I came into Verde less confident about my ability to navigate InDesign than I would have liked to. I was surprised to learn that we were supposed to alter the text of our stories to fit the design, not alter the design of our stories to fit the text. But after working with InDesign at production late nights, I became more comfortable with the software and began to develop a greater appreciation of design. I learned that designing with photo elements and designing with art was very different, and that the font and color scheme had a huge influence on the overall feeling of the design. I learned that small details matter.

The image on the right was my original color scheme for the design, and the one on the right was the one that I ended up using. I was amazed at how much of a difference the background and text colors could make, making the art look more vibrant and alive.
